I have been thinking about this for a couple of days. I have said on a number of occasions that I would take it as a huge compliment if someone told me I was turning into my mother. She is such a whirlwind of energy and love and competence and humor and smarts...sometimes it is hard to keep up. I think that while she is always teaching me something, (still, even at 37), as I've gone through different life stages, one lesson or another will take on a greater degree of importance, no matter when it was taught. It's amazing that something she imparted through words and actions 20 years ago, may have the greatest significance in my life right now. (Did she plan that or did it just happen? Hmm.) Anyway, right now the most important thing that she taught me was that moms are just regular people too. They still feel scared and cool and dorky and pretty and they don't always know what to do or say, even if their kids consider them just "Mom", the one who is always there and who handles everything. They are still the same person they were before they were Mom and always will be. So when I don't feel like I think I should feel now that I am a mom, I hope that my kids see me the way that I always saw my mother: patient, intelligent, wise, funny, available to our every whim and well, just about perfect. (Except when I was 13-15. Then she didn't know a damn thing.)

I agree. You have really set the bar. I’ve been stalking you awhile - LOL - and I subscribed awhile back to learn tips on how to make my event planning business a big success one day. People have always thought I was dumb because I’m blonde. Or that I’m a pushover because I’m nice. Your work encourages me because you are strong, smart and sweet at the same time.

I was not close to my own mother, so I’m thankful for good female role models like you. If you ever come to Phoenix, I hope we can meet. I will throw a party for you!

You made me smile by thinking about my own mother. She had this plaque in our kitchen that said If Momma Ain't Happy, Ain't Nobody Happy. I hated that stupid sign growing up.

But I learned that mothers can have a really funny side and that a good sense of humor makes a good mom, great.

So, now I proudly display that sign in my kitchen for my own kids to loathe. One day, I suspect they'll want it too.

You are such a great combination of a gifted artist and a skilled marketer. I don't know if you realize what a rare combination that is!
Keep pushing yourself - you are on fire!!!
