Kim,

My pleasure!

It's nice to meet you. I'm so happy to hear that you tried the latex and it worked so well for you. Isn't it a pretty amazing new way to look at mixing and painting?

A lot of people won't take the time to come on and say that they loved and incorporated an idea from someone else. I greatly appreciate that you did, it means so much.

When you get a chance, I'd love to see a link to one of your new works using this type of paint.

Chandra,

After reading this post yesterday, I used acrylic latex in a painting for the very fist time. I absolutely love the results.

the coverage is so uniform, and the touch is quite smooth. I'm in the process of making swatches of the colors I use most, and having latex paint tinted to match.

Thanks for revealing your secrets!

i like the idea of using the colour samples, rather than throwing them away. I have seen pantone colour cards used for mugs and posters etc now, so the idea is catching on

I have. And texture to me is part of the fun in painting. The slick feel of thick paint is oddly enjoyable to me so I love acrylics and latex the most. Are you an artist, too?

If so, you probably completely understand it when I say that painting is more than the visual end product, it's just as much about the feelings that come about while your engaged in the process of creating it.

My husband plays guitar. He can also play other instruments...but he sticks to the one that feels best. I think musicians and painters are a lot alike.

Hi Ashton,

Interesting! Actually, I did most of my branching out earlier in my twenties. Trying to define my style and create a look that is notable and recognizable is one of the biggest challenges an artist can face and I'm pretty happy that I found my voice.

I did a lot of abstract work when I was first trying to define my style, but it felt angry and came at a time in my life when I was trying to cope with a lot of pain.

When I tapped into my potential to spread a message of optimism, I knew I had found my calling. So, that is what I work on every day...following my purpose and it makes me feel happy. Fortunately for me, it seems to do the same for a lot of other people too. So, yeah - I think I found my niche.

Creating to me is more than the exploration of different mediums, it's about giving life to a business, a philosophy, a brand, products, jobs, and the art that I love to make is just icing on the cake for me.

Thanks for the great question. I love the chance to discuss reasons why I'm compelled to do what I do.

Have you ever thought about branching out from Japanation or animation like character designs to something else?

What other type of artwork are you proficient in?

Hi, I was reading some of the materials you use, such as your acrylic paint. Have you ever tried tempura paint and mixed them with egg yolks?

This is a primitave form and has been used for a long time. Try this and let me know what you think.

oh wow! I didn't even think to use that paint but that makes sense! I absolutely love the color choices and richness. It would be ten times better than the normal acrylics I use. :D I love your new blog design by the way. Absolutely fantastic! You must have a great team!
