If you've got the itch to take it to the next level, then that's a great sign. Ebay, Istock, Etsy, etc are all places that if used as a launching pad, are sites where creative entrepreneurs can experience the basics of ecom...but it sounds like you have definitely outgrown the limits of what crowdsourcing can do for you. I was pretty bummed out when you seemed to have gone away from your blog. But I know you must be so busy. I think someone said it another post comment, but I want to say it to, please keep it coming. We are your students and you are a great teacher. I have never commented before because I am like one of those people at the back of the class, too shy to speak up. But when I read this tonight, I couldn't believe how much I felt like you were speaking directly to me...even more than usual. I am one of those "Etsians" so frustrated with the whole catty system. I'm not even going to leave a link to my site because I want to get away from the whole stupid deal. Everybody wants to be successful and now that so many people realize there is so very little money to be made that way and even fewer customers, you can start to see the real side nasty side of some people. But regardless, I don't blame the artists and crafters. These websites all pit its members against one another. They aren't building communities, they are building big bank accounts for themselves. And just so people know, I have done okay, it's not like I have been a dismal failure, it truly is just that you either grow tired of it or you grow out of it. That's why you inspire me so much... You give me hope that I can break free from what everyone else is doing and figure out how to do something that gets the kind of attention I feel it deserves. I want to be a successful creative person and I'm convinced, by the example you set for us, that there is a better way. I just needed to finally tell you how much it means to me that you share your hard earned wisdom with us. Next year, I am going to have my own website and try to do what you've done too.
