When it comes to my art and creative talents I was forever finding myself unable to say no in the favor/ gift/ side job/ do-gooder arena. While I loved helping and seeing their appreciation, I was left underpaid - or not paid at all, exhausted ( from juggling SO many commitments), spread too thin and in the long run, was slowly compromising my future worth in the business world. I actually felt bad asking for the compensation I knew I was worth... WHAT?! ew. From a friend standpoint, "aww that's so nice" but from a 'I have goals and I am going to make a success of this' standpoint... what the heck was I thinking?!? And through many artistic all-nighters and bottles of wine came clarity (well, in my world anyway :) HA!) and I made a change. I can COMPLETELY relate to your decision of going all risk full speed ahead. I'm living it right now as we are finally beginning to see our passion come to life. All risk, no safety net and the freebies/favors have come to an end (I still hate to say no but duty calls now!). I expected the (financial) uncertainty of it all to be scary but it has only motivated us all the more and has become incredibly exciting. Success is the ONLY option. So blah blah blah... what I'm trying to say is, once again, you are an amazing inspiration and I look forward to future blogs.
